Application 1: 
Curbs and guards for floors and ramps of garages, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Exceptions: 
except:
  • for curbs for floors and ramps of garages and carports serving not more than one dwelling unit [see Sentence 9.35.1.1.(1)], and
  • as stated in Clause 3.8.3.4.(1)(e), which applies to barrier-free design in buildings described in Sentence 3.8.1.1.(1) [see Sentence 9.5.2.1.(1)].

To limit the probability of vehicles rolling over the edge, which could lead to harm to persons in the vehicles or to persons occupying the space below.
Intent 2: 
To clarify that the requirements regarding guards stated in Articles 9.8.8.1. to 9.8.8.3. apply to garages.
