Application 1: 
Spacing apart of doors required in Sentence (1) [egress doors from rooms and suites where the area of the rooms or suites, or the distance measured from any point within the rooms or suites to the nearest egress door, exceeds the values in Table 9.9.7.4.], in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Application 2: 
This also applies to podiums, terraces, platforms and contained open spaces, as stated in Sentence 9.9.7.1.(3).
Exceptions: 
except for dwelling units, as stated in Sentence 9.9.7.4.(1).

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that persons will not have access to an alternative egress door and route in the event one door and route are blocked or obstructed in a fire situation, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
