which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9].

Intent | Intent 1: To allow a basement storage garage to be considered as a
separate building from the portion above if certain measures are taken.
These measures are to limit the probability that fire will spread
from the garage to the upper portions of the building during the time required
to achieve occupant safety and for emergency responders to perform their duties,
which could lead to harm to persons in the upper portions of the building.
