Application | Application 1: Combustible totally enclosed
raceways that are embedded in concrete floor slabs, in an assembly required
to have a fire-resistance rating, where the
concrete provides not less than 50 mm of cover between the raceway
and the bottom of the slab. This applies to buildings to
which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9].

Intent | Intent 1: To exempt combustible totally enclosed raceways from the
requirements of Sentence 9.10.9.6.(2) if certain conditions are met,
on the basis that the raceways are protected by a concrete covering and should
not contribute significantly to the growth and spread of fire.
