Application | Application 1: Combustible drain piping
penetrating a horizontal fire separation or a
membrane that contributes to the required fire-resistance
rating of a horizontal fire separation,
where the piping leads directly from a noncombustible water
closet through a concrete floor slab. This applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Application 2: This also applies to combustible piping
for central vacuum systems, as stated in Sentence 9.10.9.6.(9).

Intent | Intent 1: To exempt combustible drain piping from the requirements
of Sentence 9.10.9.7.(1) if certain conditions are met, on the basis
that the imposed conditions limit the probability of the spread of fire and
smoke. |
