Application | Application 1: Division by fire separations of horizontal service spaces or other concealed spaces
located above required vertical fire separations,
where the construction between such spaces and the spaces below is constructed
as a fire separation having a fire-resistance

Intent | Intent 1: To supersede the requirements of Sentence 9.10.9.10.(1),
which would otherwise require the space between a horizontal service space
or other concealed space and a required vertical fire separation to be divided
at the fire separation, if certain conditions are met. This
is to limit the probability that fire will spread from one fire compartment
to another by means of the horizontal service space or concealed space, which
could lead to harm to persons in the other compartment.
