Application
Application 1: 
Fire separations that separate fuel-fired space-heating appliances, space-cooling appliances and service water heaters from the remainder of the building as required in Sentence 9.10.10.4.(1), where the equipment serves:
This applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Exceptions: 
except as stated in the appliance installation standards referenced in Sentences 9.10.10.4.(1),Sentence 9.33.5.2.(1) and 9.33.5.3.(1)], which are:
  • CSA B51, “Boiler, Pressure Vessel, and Pressure Piping Code,”
  • CSA B52, “Mechanical Refrigeration Code,”
  • CSA B139, “Installation Code for Oil-Burning Equipment,”
  • CSA B149.1, “Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code,”
  • CSA B365, “Installation Code for Solid-Fuel-Burning Appliances and Equipment,” and
  • CSA C22.1, “Canadian Electrical Code, Part I”.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exempt certain fuel-fired appliances from the requirements of Sentence 9.10.10.4.(1), which would otherwise require the appliances to be located in a room separated from the remainder of the building by fire separations, on the basis that the appliances serve a limited number of rooms or a small building.
