Application 1: 
Minimum fire-protection rating and installation of closures in openings in required fire separations, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Exceptions: 
except as stated in:
  • Article 9.10.13.2., which applies to 45-mm-thick, solid-core wood doors,
  • Sentence 9.10.13.3.(1), which applies to unrated wood door frames,
  • Sentence 9.10.13.5.(1), which applies to wired glass used as a closure, and
  • Sentence 9.10.13.7.(1), which applies to glass block used as a closure.
The following exceptions also apply, as stated in Sentence 9.10.9.3.(1):

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that fire will spread through openings in a fire separation, which could lead to harm to persons in the area on the other side of the separation.
