Intent
Intent 1:
To limit the probability that the effectiveness of fire stopping around pipes, ducts or other elements that pierce fire stops will not be maintained, which could lead to the passage of fire through openings at these penetrations, which could lead to the spread of fire within spaces that are fire stopped, which could lead to harm to persons.
