Application 1: 
Testing for radon concentration, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that contain a single dwelling unit that is provided with a means to install a sub-floor depressurization system for an interior floor-on-ground.
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Sentence 9.13.4.1.(2), which applies to the control of the infiltration of soil gas in:
  • floors in garages, and
  • buildings located where soil gas is at a sufficiently low concentration as to not constitute a hazard.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability of high radon concentrations going undetected, which could lead to a depressurization system not being installed, which could lead to the infiltration of soil gas (particularly radon) into dwelling units, which could lead to negative effects on the air quality of indoor spaces, which could lead to harm to persons.
