Application | Application 1: Separation of flue liners
in the same rectangular chimney of brick masonry
or concrete, which is not more than 12 m in height and serves
fireplaces or appliances having a combined total
rated heat output of 120 kW or less, in buildings to
which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 9]. Application 2: This also applies to rectangular masonry
or concrete chimneys, in buildings to which
Part 6 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A for application
of Part 6], as stated in Sentence 6.3.1.2.(1). |

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that condensate or corrosive gases
from a failed flue liner will reach the masonry surrounding adjacent flue
liners in the same chimney, which could lead to the ignition of combustible
building components, which could lead to damage to the building.
