Application
Application 1: 
Minimum sizes and maximum spans of ridge beams supporting roof rafters and joists, where such rafters and joists are not longer than 4.9 m and where the roof does not support concentrated loads, in wood-frame constructions to which Section 9.23. applies [see Sentence 9.23.1.1.(1) for application of Section 9.23.].
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Sentence 9.23.13.8.(3), which applies to ridge beams where the beams are:
  • not less than 38 mm by 140 mm, and
  • adequately supported at intervals not exceeding 1.2 m.
