Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability of inadequate support for cladding,
sheathing or interior finish materials, which could lead to an inability to
resist expected lateral and gravity loads. For assemblies
that are required to provide fire resistance, this is to limit the probability
of excessive movement, deformation or failure under expected loads, which
could lead to compromised fire resistance of the assemblies, which could lead
to harm to persons.
