Intent 1: 
To limit the probability of an inadequate resistance to the conduction of heat from a fire damper casing to wall framing, which could lead to the distortion of the framing, which could lead to the premature failure of the damper, which could lead to the premature failure of fire-rated assemblies, which could lead to harm to persons.
