which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability of a discontinuous air barrier
system at penetrations through assemblies, which could lead to a loss of airtightness,
which could lead to excessive air infiltration and exfiltration.
Where the air barrier system separates a garage, or suite containing
a garage, from residential space, to limit the probability of the leakage
of carbon monoxide gas into living space, which could lead to the asphyxiation
or acute poisoning of persons.
