Intent
Intent 1:
To limit the probability of:
  • corrosion of staples on exposure to water from rain, or melting snow or ice, which could lead to failure under gravity, vibration and wind loads, or
  • splitting of wood shingles or pull-through failure of asphalt shingles.
This is to limit the probability of the displacement of shingles, which could lead to precipitation or meltwater ingress, which could lead to deterioration, which could lead to the structural failure of roofs or assemblies protected by roofs, which could lead to harm to persons.
