Minimum extension up the roof slope of flashing at intersections of shingle roofs sloping upwards from masonry walls or chimneys whose upper side is not more than 750 mm wide, on buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].

To limit the probability of an insufficient upwards extension of flashing, which could lead to precipitation or meltwater ingress, which could lead to deterioration, which could lead to the structural failure of roofs, masonry walls or chimneys, or elements protected by such assemblies, which could lead to harm to persons.
