or range-top fans, in self-contained heating-season
mechanical ventilation systems serving single dwelling
units with 5 or fewer bedrooms that are supplied with electrical power
and a heating system, in buildings to which:
Exceptions:
except as stated in Sentence 9.32.3.1.(1), which applies to
heating-season mechanical ventilation systems designed to comply with CAN/CSA-F326-M.

| Intent | Intent 1: [Clause (a)] To limit the probability of melting or burning
of the duct on exposure to heat from a fire or to corrosion, which could lead
to the perforation of the duct, which could lead to the growth and spread
of fire, which could lead to harm to persons. Intent 2: [Clauses (b) and (c)] To limit the probability of the entry
and accumulation of grease and embedded dust in the range duct or other exhaust
fans or ducts. This is to limit the probability that,
in the event of a range-top fire, the ductwork will contribute to the spread
of flame and smoke, which could lead to harm to persons.
