Application
Application 1: 
Construction of garages and carports serving not more than one dwelling unit, for buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Exceptions: 
except as stated in:
  • Sentence 9.35.2.2.(1), which applies to the slope of floors in attached or built-in garages,
  • Sentence 9.35.3.2.(2), which applies to construction joints between the main building slab and a slab serving an attached garage, breezeway or carport,
  • Sentence 9.35.3.3.(1), which applies to mud sill foundations for detached garages of less than 55 m2 floor area, not more than 1 storey in height, and not of masonry or masonry veneer construction,
  • Sentence 9.35.4.1.(1), which applies to interior finish in garages and carports,
  • Sentence 9.35.4.2.(1), which applies to column dimensions for garages and carports, and
  • Sentence 9.35.4.3.(1), which applies to the anchorage of the walls and columns of garages and carports.

Intent 1: 
To clarify that the construction of garages and carports is required to conform to the provisions of Part 9 unless otherwise stated in Section 9.35.
