Structural design of buildings and their structural components with respect to strength and stability using the limit states method.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A] that are required to be designed to the requirements of Part 4.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the capacities of the structural components and the stability of the building and its parts will not be sufficient to resist the forces due to the maximum expected loads, which could lead to excessive deformation of, or excessive stress in, structural components, which could lead to damage to the building.
