Application
Application 1: 
Reduction of the uniformly distributed live loads specified in Table 4.1.5.3. for the design of structural members supporting a tributary area of floor, roof or combination thereof that is greater than 20 m2.
Exceptions: 
except as stated in:
  • Sentence 4.1.5.9.(1), which applies to areas used for assembly occupancies designed for a live load of less than 4.8 kPa and to roofs designed for the minimum loading stated in Table 4.1.5.3., and
  • Sentence 4.1.5.9.(2), which applies when a structural member supports a tributary area of floor, roof or combination thereof that is greater than 80 m2 and is used for
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that are required to be designed in accordance with the requirements of Part 4.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To supersede the application of Sentence 4.1.5.3.(1) and allow a reduction in the uniformly distributed live load specified in Table 4.1.5.3., taking into account the maximum expected accumulation of weight due to persons and objects on the tributary area supported by the structural elements.
