Application
Application 1:
Method for calculating the net specified pressure due to wind on part or all of a surface of a building using the specified external wind pressures or suctions determined in Sentence 4.1.7.1.(1) and the specified internal pressures or suctions due to wind on interior surfaces of buildings calculated using the formula provided.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that are required to be designed in accordance with the requirements of Part 4.

Intent
Intent 1:
To limit the probability that the calculation of net wind pressure on a building surface will not take into account how external and internal pressures or suctions on building surfaces act to produce forces in structural elements, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2:
To limit the probability that the calculation of specified wind pressures or suctions on interior surfaces of buildings will not take into account all the factors that affect the expected maximum magnitude and distribution of wind pressures or suctions on interior surfaces of buildings, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 3:
To limit the probability that the calculation of wind load used for the design will not take into account the level of reliability appropriate for the use and occupancy, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
