Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that the calculation of lateral
deflection will not take into account the combined effects of expected lateral
deflection and twist of the building structure, including inelastic deformation,
due to maximum expected seismic ground motions, which could lead to damage
to or displacement of attached or adjacent building elements, which could
consequently fall or slide, which could lead to harm to persons.
