Application
Application 1: 
Design of piles, drilled piers, and caissons when the design moment in the element due to earthquake effects is greater than 75% of its moment capacity, at sites where IEFaSa(0.2) is greater than 0.75.
This applies to buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A and to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9] that are required to be designed in accordance with the requirements of Part 4.
