Application 1: 
Air duct systems, in heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems, serving garages, in buildings described in Sentence 1.3.3.2.(1) of Division A.
Application 2: 
This also applies to buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], with respect to:
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Sentence 6.2.3.8.(6), which applies to exhaust systems serving rooms that are accessible only from a storage garage and are not served by duct systems serving other parts of the building.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the interconnection of ductwork between the garage and other parts of the building will lead to the entry of gases, such as exhaust fumes from vehicles or other contaminants, into other parts of the building, which could lead to negative effects on the air quality of indoor spaces, which could lead to harm to persons.
