Application 1: 
Breakaway sliding doors used as required exit doors or required doors in means of egress, in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Sentence 9.9.6.4.(5), which applies to exit doors serving accessory buildings where there is no danger to life safety, serving storage garages or other accessory buildings that serve not more than one dwelling unit or serving storage suites in certain warehousing buildings and opening directly to the exterior at ground level.

Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that persons will be unaware that a sliding door can be swung open, which could impede their travel to an exit location during an emergency, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
