Intent
Intent 1:
To exempt certain exit doors from the requirements of Sentence 9.9.6.4.(2) and Sentence 9.9.6.4.(3), which would otherwise require the doors to swing on the vertical axis and breakaway doors to be labeled, and permit doors not swinging on their vertical axis and the omission of labels, on the basis that such doors are limited to situations where:
  • persons are most likely familiar with the door's operation, or
  • there is minimal danger to life safety.
