Application
Application 1: 
Enclosed spaces above mezzanines conforming to Sentence 9.10.4.1.(2), in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], where the enclosed space:
  • does not exceed 10% of the area of the room in which the mezzanine is located, and
  • is situated such that it does not obstruct visual communication between the open space above the mezzanine and the room in which it is located.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To exempt an enclosed space above a mezzanine from the requirements of Clause 9.10.4.1.(2)(b), if certain conditions are met that limit the size and location of the enclosed space on the mezzanine, on the basis that this configuration does not pose an undue safety risk to persons.
