Application | Application 1: Materials used for the construction of fire stops,
in buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9].
Exceptions:
except as stated in Sentence 9.10.16.3.(2), which applies to
semi-rigid fibre insulation board produced from glass, rock or slag and used
for fire stopping in double-frame wall assemblies at the intersection of the
floor assembly and the walls, in buildings permitted
to be of combustible construction.

Intent | Intent 1: To limit the probability that fire stopping material used
to block and separate concealed spaces will not remain in place for a certain
minimum amount of time under fire conditions, which could lead to the spread
of fire within these spaces, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2: To expand the application of Sentence 3.1.11.7.(1) to
Part 9 buildings. |
