(c) [F20,F61-OH4] Applies to floors and elements that support floors.
Application
Application 1: 
Placement of grout for unit masonry in foundations for buildings to which Part 9 applies [see Sentence 1.3.3.3.(1) of Division A for application of Part 9], where the foundations are:
  • not subject to surcharge, and
  • erected on stable soils with:
    • for standard foundation construction and for buildings of wood-frame construction [see Article 9.23.1.1.] or masonry construction, an allowable bearing pressure of 75 kPa or greater, and
    • for flat insulating concrete form foundation walls and for buildings of light-frame construction [see Article 9.4.2.1.] or flat insulating concrete form construction that are not more than 2 storeys in building height, with a maximum floor-to-floor height of 3 m, and contain only a single dwelling unit, an allowable bearing pressure of 100 kPa or greater.
Exceptions: 
except as stated in Sentence 9.15.1.2.(1), which applies to foundations and footings for buildings erected on permafrost.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that the inappropriate placement of grout will lead to the inadequate performance or premature failure of concrete block foundation walls under expected environmental or structural loads.
This is to limit the probability of:
  • compromised structural integrity of masonry construction, or
  • in assemblies exposed to moisture or the exterior, damage and deterioration.
For floors and elements supporting floors, this is to limit the probability of excessive movement, deflection or vibration, which could lead to negative effects on the psychological well-being of persons.
