Application 1: 
Minimum clearance between noncombustible receptacles as required inSentences 2.4.1.3.(1) and (2) [receptacles for the storage of ashes, greasy or oily rags or materials subject to spontaneous ignition] and combustible materials, inside buildings.
Exceptions: 
except as exempted in Clause 2.4.1.3.(4)(c), which applies to combustible flooring material upon which the receptacles are placed.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that fire in the receptacle will spread to nearby combustible materials, which could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which could lead to damage to the building.
