Aisles in open floor areas, in buildings, that:
  • are not subdivided into rooms or suites served by corridors giving access to exits, and
  • are required by the National Building Code of Canada to have more than one egress doorway.

Intent 1: 
To limit the probability of delays in evacuation or movement to a safe place in an emergency, which could lead to harm to persons.
Intent 2: 
To limit the probability that persons will be prevented or delayed in accessing one egress doorway should the other become inaccessible in an emergency situation, which could lead to delays in evacuation or movement to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
