Objective	OP1 Fire Protection of the Building or Facility
Attribution	[F02-OP1.2]
Application	Application 1: Sprinkler or other fire suppression systems for buildings used for the storage of dangerous goods regulated by Subsection 3.2.7. This applies to buildings or parts of buildings used for the short- or long-term storage of dangerous goods in packages or containers when stored in single fire compartments in quantities greater than those shown in Table 3.2.7.1., whether raw or waste materials, goods in process, or finished goods. Exceptions: except as exempted in: Sentence 3.1.1.4.(1), which applies to: the storage and dispensing of Class 2.1 flammable gases at fuel dispensing stations, and facilities operated by manufacturers or distributors [handling or storing more than 1 500 kg, as stated in Appendix A] of Class 2 gases, Sentence 3.2.1.1.(2), which applies to high rack storage warehouses with storage heights greater than 13 m, Sentences 3.2.5.3.(1) and 3.2.5.4.(1), which apply to aerosols, Sentence 3.2.7.9.(2), which applies to limited storage in a separate fire compartment, Sentence 3.2.7.9.(3), which applies to non-hazardous gases, Article 4.2.4.2., which applies to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in assembly occupancies or residential occupancies, Article 4.2.5.1., which applies to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in mercantile occupancies, Article 4.2.6.3., which applies to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in business and personal services occupancies, care or detention occupancies and non-residential schools, Articles 4.2.7.5. and 4.2.8.2., which apply to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in industrial occupancies, Article 4.2.8.4., which applies to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in general storage areas, Article 4.2.9.1., which applies to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in storage rooms, and Article 4.2.10.3.,and Sentence 5.5.5.1.(2), which apply to flammable liquids and combustible liquids in storage cabinets.

Intent	Intent 1: To limit the probability that a fire involving the stored products will spread to other parts of the building, which could lead to damage to the building. Intent 2: To direct Code users to Sentence 6.4.1.1.(1), Article 2.1.3.5., Article 2.1.3.6. and 6.6.1.1., and to caution that the extinguishing agent and method must be determined based on the hazardous properties of the specific dangerous goods to be protected.
