Application
Application 1: 
Main aisles, access aisles and aisles defining individual storage areas [access to stored products and to fire department access panels and fire protection equipment], used for firefighting purposes, in areas used for the indoor storage of flammable liquids, combustible liquids or unstable liquids, where such liquids are:
  • in industrial occupancies,
  • in mercantile occupancies in quantities in excess of those permitted in Sentences 4.2.5.1.(2) to (4)[as stated in Sentence 4.2.5.1.(5)],
  • in bulk plants as stated in Sentence 4.7.2.4.(1), and
  • in closed containers conforming to Clauses 4.2.3.1.(1)(a) to (d)that have a capacity of not more than 230 L, or closed portable tanks conforming to Clause 4.2.3.1.(1)(e) that have an individual capacity of not more than 2 500 L.
Exceptions: 
except as exempted in:
  • Article 4.1.5.8., which applies to the storage of Class I liquids in basements,
  • Sentence 4.1.1.1.(3), which applies--in part--to oil burning equipment and the storage of aerosol products,
  • Article 4.2.7.9., which applies to the separation from other dangerous goods, and
  • Sentence 4.2.1.1.(2), which applies--in part--to:
