Application
Application 1: 
Frequency of visual inspections at operations involving aboveground piping systems, pumps and other ancillary equipment for flammable liquids or combustible liquids, in buildings, structures and open areas.
Exceptions: 
except as exempted in:
  • Sentences 4.1.1.1.(2) and (3), which apply to unique hazards at process plants, in transportation, for oil burning equipment, on farms and isolated construction projects, and the storage of aerosol products; and
  • Sentence 4.5.1.1.(2), which applies to:
    • tubing or casings and piping for oil or gas wells,
    • transmission pipelines,
    • piping for vehicles, aircraft, watercraft and portable or stationary engines,
    • piping systems in fuel dispensing stations and distilleries, and
    • piping within the scope of the applicable provincial boiler and pressure vessel codes.

Intent
Intent 1: 
To limit the probability that exposed piping system defects or the escape of liquid will go unnoticed, which could lead to appropriate measures not being taken, which could lead to the spread of liquid, which could lead to harm to the public.
