Application 1: 
Design and installation of automatic sprinkler systems in buildings [that are required by the National Fire Code of Canada 2005 to have automatic sprinkler systems], as stated in:
Exceptions: 
except as stated in:
  • Sentence 3.2.2.3.(4), which applies to indoor storage,
  • Sentence 3.2.2.4.(3), which applies to the storage of combustible pallets,
  • Article 3.2.3.3., which applies to individual storage areas for Class I, II, III or IV commodities, Group A, B or C plastics, and closed containers of distilled beverage alcohol,
  • Sentence 3.2.4.3.(1), which applies to buildings used for the storage of rubber tires,
  • Sentence 3.2.5.5.(1), which applies to the indoor storage of packaged aerosol products, and
  • Articles 4.2.7.5. and 4.2.7.7., and Sentences 4.2.7.6.(1), 4.2.9.1.(2) and 4.3.12.4.(1), which apply to the container and tank storage of flammable liquids and combustible liquids in industrial occupancies.

To limit the probability that a sprinkler system will not suppress or control a fire, which could lead to the spread of fire to other parts of the building, which could lead to harm to persons.
