Intent 1:

To supersede the minimum 1 100 mm value for corridor width required in Sentence 3.3.1.9.(2) in certain buildings of care or treatment occupancy to accommodate the movement of patients and residents, either mobile or in beds, in an emergency situation.

This is to limit the probability of delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons. [Clauses (a) and (b)]

Intent 2:

To expand the application of Sentence 3.3.1.9.(2) in certain buildings of care occupancy on the basis of the limited number of residents. [Clause (c)]

Intent 3:

To limit the probability that corridors will not be able to accommodate the movement of patients and residents, either mobile or in beds, in certain buildings of care or treatment occupancy in an emergency situation, which could lead to delays or inefficiencies in emergency response operations, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
