Intent 1:

To limit the probability that glazing will be involved in, or contribute to, the spread of fire within an exit, which could lead to damage to the building.

Intent 2:

To limit the probability that glazing will prematurely fail when exposed to fire from outside the exit, which could lead to the spread of fire into the exit, which could lead to emergency responders being delayed in gaining access to a floor area, which could lead to delays or ineffectiveness in fire emergency response operations, which could lead to the further spread of fire, which could lead to damage to the building.
