Intent 1:

To limit the probability that fire will spread from a floor area through openings in exterior walls to a fire escape, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.

Intent 2:

To limit the probability that fire will spread from a floor area through openings in exterior walls to a fire escape, which could lead to delays or ineffectiveness in emergency response operations, which could lead to delays in the evacuation or movement of persons to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.

Intent 3:

To expand the application of Subsection 3.1.8. [specifically Sentence 3.1.8.1.(2)] to openings in exterior walls located in zones described in Sentence 3.4.7.4.(2).
