Intent 1:

To limit the probability that the dynamic structural effect of dynamic forces from rhythmic activities on floor systems, whose fundamental vibration frequency is such that large resonant vibrations are likely to occur, will not be taken into account in the design of the supporting structure, which could lead to:

• the excessive deformation of, or excessive stress in, structural elements, which could lead to damage to the building, or
• the excessive vibration of structural elements, which could impede the intended use and occupancy of the building.
