Intent 1:

To limit the probability that an installed deep foundation unit, with deviations in alignment and location outside those assumed for its design, will undergo a large deformation under the expected loads, which could lead to excessive displacement of the foundation, which could lead to:

• damage to the building, and
• excessive distortion of the building, which could impede the use and occupancy of the building.

Intent 2:

To direct Code users to the requirement of Article 2.2.4.7. of Division B concerning the recording of alterations on the design drawings.
