Intent 1:

To limit the probability that an existing foundation supporting a new building or altered existing building will deform substantially due to the expected loads, which could lead to excessive displacement of the existing foundation, which could lead to:

• damage to the building, and
• distortion of the building, which could impede the use and occupancy of the building.
