Intent 1:
Where panel-type siding is installed as bracing
to satisfy Subclause 9.23.13.1.(2)(a)(i) and Clause 9.23.13.6.(1)(a), to limit the probability of water penetrating the edges of plywood
cladding sheets, which could lead to swelling of plies or deterioration
of adhesive, which could lead to an inability to resist lateral loads,
which could lead to racking of exterior walls.
This is to limit the probability of:
- the deformation of the building, or
- the displacement of cladding, trim and flashing, opening
of joints or failure of caulking, which could lead to
- precipitation or meltwater ingress, which could lead
to deterioration, which could lead to compromised structural integrity
of exterior walls or elements protected by exterior walls, or
- falling cladding components.
This is to limit the probability of:
- the space being unsuitable for its intended use,
- compromised operation of windows and doors, or
- damage to the building.
