To limit the probability of inadequate strength
or rigidity, which could lead to an inability to resist expected impact,
gravity or lateral loads, which could lead to splitting, excessive
deflection, bending failure or the withdrawal of fasteners.
This is to limit the probability of:
- where interior finishes contribute to the required bracing
or lateral support for studs, the buckling or racking of walls, which
could lead to structural failure, or
- where interior finishes support or provide the substrate
for required environmental separation elements, the excessive deformation,
displacement or failure of such elements, which could lead to deterioration,
which could lead to further compromised structural integrity.
This is to limit the probability of harm to persons.
