Intent 1:

To limit the probability that the lateral seismic force used in the design of anchorage for an element or component will not take into account the risk associated with the failure of the element or component, which could lead to failure of the anchorage, which could lead to:

• components of the building falling or sliding, which could lead to damage to the building, or
• damage to and functional failure of a component's system, which could impede the intended use and occupancy of the building.
