Intent 1:

To limit the probability of the inadequate control of heat transfer through environmental separators under expected environmental loads, which could lead to:

• excessive heat loss or gain,
• condensation within components or assemblies, or
• the creation of ice dams on sloped roofs.

This is to limit the probability of rot, corrosion and damage due to freeze-thaw cycling, which could lead to compromised structural integrity, which could lead to structural failure, which could lead to harm to persons.
