Intent 1:
To exempt cladding from the requirements of Sentences 9.10.14.5.(1) and 9.10.14.5.(2) [specifically “Type of Cladding Required” in Table 9.10.14.5.A.], if certain conditions are met.
This is to limit the probability that:
- fire will spread from the subject building to an adjacent
building, which could lead to damage to the adjacent building,
- fire will spread from the subject building to an adjacent
building through unprotected openings, which could lead to damage
to the adjacent building, and
- an exposing building face will be ignited and contribute
to, or be involved in, a fire, which could lead to the spread of fire
from the subject building to an adjacent building, which could lead
to damage to the adjacent building.
