Intent 1:
To limit the probability that the performance of
windows, doors and skylights will fall significantly below expectations
with respect to:
- resistance to wind and snow loads,
- control of air leakage, which could lead to excessive
heat transfer or condensation, and
- protection against precipitation ingress.
This is to limit the probability of
damage to or deflection of windows, doors and skylights or their components,
which could lead to:
- the compromised structural integrity of windows, doors
and skylights and adjacent exterior wall assemblies, or
- the ingress of water or condensation, which could lead
to deterioration, which could lead to compromised structural integrity
of windows, doors and skylights and adjacent exterior wall assemblies.
This is to limit the probability of damage to the building,
which could impede the intended use and occupancy of the building.
