To exempt certain care occupancies from the application of Sentence 3.2.4.21.(1), which would otherwise not require smoke alarms within sleeping rooms, when the care occupancy has individual suites for residents. This is to limit the probability that residents in an individual suite will not be promptly notified of a fire in other parts of the care occupancy, which could lead to delays in evacuation or moving to a safe place, which could lead to harm to persons.
