Intent 1:
To exempt roof coverings for certain buildings from
the application of Sentence 3.1.15.2.(1), which would otherwise
require a classification, on the basis that:
- in the case of tents and air-supported structures, it
is not practical to meet the fire test and classification criteria,
- in the case of Group A, Division 2 occupancies, the
conditions imposed provide an appropriate level of protection by limiting
the size of the building and limiting the combustibility of the roof
covering material exposed to a fire in the building, and
- in the case of brick, masonry, concrete, metal sheets
or metal shingles installed on noncombustible roof deck or framing,
are classified as Class A roof assemblies which are deemed effective
against severe fire test exposure.
